LENTEN FAST 2025

OBJECTIVE: FASTING, FAITH, AND FINANCES

For 40 days, we will engage in a deliberate period of intentional restraint and spending or consuming material goods. The goal is the deepening of our connection to our faith by focusing on contentment, gratitude, and reliance on divine provision rather than material wealth. Essentially, it is a fast from unnecessary purchases to cultivate a more mindful approach toward our finances.

It is a God-inspired way for us to find financial freedom and peace in the area of our spending, saving and giving. The concept is similar to a fast where we give up food—something physical for God’s presence—something spiritual.  It is a way to draw closer to God. This fast is about curbing our desire to consume while fueling our desire to get closer to God!

PRACTICAL EXECUTION OF THE FAST

1. Being intentional about cutting back on our spending by our prioritizing spiritual growth.

2. Being intentional about abstaining from non essential spending habits like eating out, spontaneous purchases and credit card use.

3. Being intentional about making our devotional time an opportunity for us to focus and reflect on the beauty of contentment and gratitude for our basic needs.

4. Praying about how and where we can possibly redirect the money saved toward charitable giving or the reduction of our debt.
